aloha, I think that is so great that you guys have a village On Hawaii. WE tried to do one here on Oahu but the building permit people came up and say to take them down. its kindof hard to really help people and show them we can be sunstainable when our hands are tied. any problems like that on Big Isle?

Each county (or Hawaiian island) has a different set of rules and professionals everywhere say building codes have gotten out of hand with lobbied influences. Big Island happens to be the most lenient for yurt enthusiasts, but I'm sure if there is a will that there is a way to satisfy the Oahu building inspectors. Hope you'll keep me posted on your progress!
