4 Rent: Chic Eco Yurt

Fiery night skies are magnificent for photographers + enthusiasts. Media + professionals appreciate the short distances to Pahoa Town + active fissures with lava.

Beware of potential evacuation alert! Be prepared to leave with little warning. Have gas +/or ash mask on hand. Please review local status before discounted reservation. Also, understand how airbnb will assist with relocation should the Nanawale community be demanded to evacuate through a designated route starting close to the yurt.

A little oasis in a remote (yet metro-close) area of tropical paradise. Simple, comfortable, + reasonably priced.

Approximately $65 per night, seasonal. Discounted for volcano action, please inquire.

This location is 2014 history-made with Kilauea's lava flow. Fortunately, most Pahoa Town residences were spared and businesses are active.

Look to the right sidebar for airbnb or Flipkey rental programs to view description, many photos, calendar, and to make a reservation. With Hawaii dispensaries on the horizon, I am also proud to be an honored host on Bud and Breakfast as well.

The Space

Welcome to my single-private rain forest home.  Escape to simple living paradise with blooms + edible plants. Yurt lodging is beyond luxury camping with modern conveniences.

Comfortably furnished for 1-3 people with one queen-size air mattress bed, one twin-size air mattress + a single futon (chair converts to bed). Layout is customized for your reservation at 4 people max. Outdoor dining is under cover + by the fish pool.

You are welcomed with a tour + a basket of goodies. Typical seasonal food blessings are bananas, avocado, passion fruit, chives, rosemary, Hawaiian spinach, + cherry tomatoes.
Mobile Floor Plan

This property is semi off-grid with solar plumbing. If you are contemplating a yurt purchase, this is the perfect test with complimentary consultation to construct on Hawaii Island.

Use of towels, toiletries, bedding, kitchen accessories, + basic condiments included. There is WiFi satellite Internet + good cell phone connectivity.

No air conditioning; the ceiling fan helps you enjoy the clean Pacific air. Although the windows and doors are screened, wandering geckos may appear during winter. They like to show off their enjoyable sport of eating mosquitoes + flies. Most like it when you talk to them :)

Simple + sustainable lifestyle here, composting is a natural in the tropics. You may find culinary linens made from worn textiles + most glassware consists of reused jars.

Typically, your stay requires a 3-day minimum advance reservation. (Because this is my home, immediate reservations are not available + note clean days are necessary between bookings).

Feel free to inquire about service options + fees. The kitchen may be stocked for your arrival, for example. Other considerations by reservation are catering, guided tours, delivery + concierge services.

Do be forewarned of wildlife sounds from nature! Coqui frogs + crickets sing to you during twilight while roosters crow (sometimes at odd hours) in the region. Most visitors love these jungle-type sounds while others prefer to use ear plugs. Know that your stay includes complimentary ear plugs since the roosters can get pretty darn loud!

Neighbors have friendly pets + feral cats are common. Nature's rainforest does include mosquitoes, so be prepared.

Check out "Uncle Robert's" on Saturday mornings for the "Outer Space" farmers' market + Wednesday evenings with entertainment.  Famed Maku'u market is Sunday mornings. All Hawaii markets offer produce, fantastic prepared foods (that you can eat there or carry out), gifts, aromatherapy, holistic services + musicians. More to share when you reserve!

Guest Access
Upon your reservation + arrival itinerary, a welcome tour is scheduled with driving instructions; plus links for details about more things to see + do. Services + complimentary community swimming pool access require advance (but FREE) reservation; just ask!

Interaction with Guests
There is a school bus on the property that the owner typically sleeps in during your stay. You may find owner Delia daytime gardening. Queries are free; nonprofit Hawaii Cannabis Organization, concierge for catering, massage, tours, etc.

The Neighborhood

Nanawale Estates is a large community of homes in a tropical rain forest climate. The yurt is a short distance to shore, warm ponds + other island climates, (such as Volcano).
This location made 2014 history with Kilauea's lava flow slowly reaching Pahoa Town. A wonderful video published 2014 November of Pahoa Town preparing for lava may be viewed on YouTube.
Getting Around
Highly recommend that you rent a vehicle. The bus service is not dependably prompt. Hitchhiking is acceptable throughout the island. Sometimes you can find a local car deal on Craig's List.

Other Things to Note

The fish in four lily pools love to be fed afternoons. Ask Delia for complimentary fish food.

Seating is for 2-3 guests on the surfboard table under the solar shack. Great for dining outdoors with a tropical garden view, but know that it gets "buggy" by around 4pm until sunset. A citronella candle or tiki torch can be readily purchased in Pahoa.
